Kabkab dates

Kabkab dates are one of the types of dates in Iran. The color of the fruit is yellow in the prickly stage and light brown and burnt brown in the wet stage, and it turns dark brown when fully ripe. Its consumption is mostly in moist and dates. Unlike other dates, Kabkab dates have a bitter taste when they are unripe and prickly. Oval fruit weighing about 15 grams with a semi-dry texture of light yellow color, the thickness of the shell is thick. Khark ripens in the beginning of Amardad, but the harvesting of its fully ripe fruit (dates) starts in the middle of Shahrivar and continues until the middle of Mehr. This date is considered one of the more varieties. The thorn of this variety cannot be used, so it must be cooked and dried before consumption. Kabkab variety is one of the most important and abundant varieties of Khesht and Kamaraj region in Kazerun and Dashtestan (Shahrabpaksh and Saadabad). This variety is also cultivated in large quantities in other date-growing areas such as Khormouj, Behbahan, Kazerun, Qirokarzin, Tabas, Tangestan and Farashband. In terms of economic importance in Iran, Shahani and Mozafati are after the colonies.
